ZolkC have been chosen by Geopark Shetland to create a mobile guide that will bring the geology of the Shetland Isles to life.
Geopark Shetland were keen on using mobile technology to connect visitors with the outdoor landscape, and through the ZolkC developed guide users will be able to track down over 100 key geological sites using their own mobile phone. Detailed information about each key site will be delivered through the app and will range from oral history & storytelling, to more detailed geological content.
As well as plotting each key site on an interactive map, an Augmented Reality interface will enable users to ‘interact’ with the stunning Shetland landscape by viewing it through their device’s camera. The guide will also contain a number of themed walking trails.
